There is some ambiguity of names of Charles and Laddie. The following Marriage Certificate say Charles S. Scott married Miss Laddie A. Hardaway on 24 March 1885. Witnesses were Chas Moorman and Jessie Hardaway. Location was Big Spring Church in Meade County. Signature is G. S. King, Minister.
Charles Lee and Adalisa Louisa lived at the top of the hill at the end of Scott Hill Road in Stith valley. They later moved down the hill to a farm now owned by Clarance D. Ditto and Patricia Ann Ditto (wife) D.B. 113 PG 137. The house still stands in 1998. Laddie is seen on the right of a number of family members in front of her house in 1920 in this photo.
Mr. John Dooley bought the farm at the top of the hill from
the Scotts. John Dooley had two sons, Clarance and Lawn. Mrs. Clarance Dooley
lived in the house at the top of the hill at least into the 1960's. The house still
stands and is the residence of Russell Ross in 1998. Russell married Clarance
Dooley's daughter Mildred who died a number of years ago. Russell Ross also has a
farm south of Bewleyville. There may have been a swap involved with the farms
between the Dooleys and the Scotts but the details have not surfaced. Based on
discussion with Margaret Witt in May 2000 the family moved down the hill in 1901 when
Margaret Eleanor Scott was 10 years old. Margaret Witt still owns a wood stove given
Margaret Scott by her parents for her room when she was 10 years old just before the move
down the hill.
