70 Years Ago, Wednesday, September 11, 1940 and Friday September 13

There's a twofold purpose in having the big Tri-Community Homecoming at Celebration at Big Spring on September 21.  It will not only mark the 130th anniversary of the first Sunday School organized in Kentucky, but will also pay honor to one of their own boys, Edgar V. Moorman, who has become a first citizen of the United States in that he is the nominee for vice president of the U.S. on the Prohibition ticket.  Rodger W. Babson, noted statistician is his running mate for president.

(note: Jess Scott, November 2010.  This would put the organizing of the Sunday School to September, 1810.  I don't know the source of any history of Big Spring with detail of when a Sunday School might have been organized.  There seems to be a detailed history of Bewleyville which was in the possession of A. H. Payne.  See reference to this.)
