Leona Ammons, 89, Louisville, formerly of Big Spring, died April 13, 2011, at Parkway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Alvie Ammons; a son, Ray Ammons, Jr., a daughter Dorothy McCoy; three sisters, Molly Lee Logsdon, Josie Epperson and Mary Louise Hicks; and a brother, Wilbur Ammons.

Mrs. Ammons is survived by a daughter, Elsie S. Tarter, Louisville; two granddaughters, Rebecca (Bill) Hardesty, and Bonnie (Lyndall) Bramlett; three great-grandchildren, Patricia L. Hardesty, Matthew Bramlett and Jeremy Bramlett; a brother, George Ammons, Portland, Ore., and a very dear close friend, Ruth Ammons.

Funeral services were held April 16, at Nelson-Edelen- Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove, with Sister Joyce Quiggins officiating. Burial was in the Big Spring Methodist Cemetery in Big Spring.
