Edward E. Stith Greif

 

Greif, Edward E. Stith, 68, of Wichita, died April 13, 2007 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Service 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Paducah, Ky., with Rev. Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Paducah, Ky. Ed Greif was born in Lexington, and raised in Owensboro and Paducah, Ky. He held a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky and attended the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and also earned a master's of science from Kansas State University. He was in his fourth career as a speechwriter and speech coach, a history and genealogy writer, speaker and researcher. He enjoyed a part-time practice in geriatric medicine as a doctor of pharmacy. Prior to 9-11, Ed was a certified management consultant, event planner and on the professional speaking circuit for 20 years. His unique ability to bring solutions to current problems and assist professionals prevail against challenges faced at work and at home motivated thousands of achievers. During this time he was also a businessman, teacher, writer and author of over 125 articles and learning systems. Ed's corporate career was as a marketing and sales executive with Philips Medical (Picker), an international medical imaging corporation. During this period he brought hundreds of products to market. Mammography, Cardiac Cath Rooms, Ultrasound, Nuclear medicine, C/T, magnetic Resonance and PET Scanners were among the hundreds of products he and his colleagues developed and brought to market. He began his career as a medical, teaching, and research professional. Ed was on the staff and faculty of the University of Kentucky and University of Pennsylvania Medical Centers and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science). In medicine, he pioneered numerous advances in medical systems. Some included imaging products, the laminar airflow hood, TPN nutritional therapy, cart,unit dose dispensing and I.V. additive programs. During this time he published over a dozen articles and was a contributing editor for International Pharmaceutical Abstracts and was elected into numerous medical organizations. He was a member of the National Eagle Scout Association (life), the UK Alumni Association (life), the Sons of the American Revolution and Kentucky Society of Health System Pharmacists (life). Survivors: wife, Phyllis Hobbs Greif; son, Greg Greif of Canton, Miss.; brother, Vernon (Nancy) Greif of Durango, Colo.; niece, Cary Greif of Seattle; and grandchildren, Lauren Greif and David Greif, both of Memphis, Tenn.
